TsSKB-Progress has become a winner to design and develop a new Obzor-P

TsSKB-Progress has become a winner to design and develop a new Obzor-P all-weather Earth observation radar operating 24-hour.

TsSKB-Progress is to develop Obzor-P radar observation space system with spacecraft which will provide with radar data in the interests of social and economic development of The Russian Federation at any time of the day regardless of weather conditions. The spacecraft launch is planned to be performed by Soyuz-2 carrier in 2015.

Obzor-P space system is under Federal Space Program of Russia for 2011-2015. It is meant for Ministry of The RF in the area of Civil Defense, in Emergencies and in elimination of the consequences of natural calamities; Department of Agriculture, Russia, Federal services of registration, cadaster and cartography, as well as the other Ministries and Departments and territories where radar data is used to solve the following tasks:

- mapping;

- maritime protection;

- monitoring of natural and emergency situations;

- identification of potentially dangerous geological processes, objects and phenomena in the area of important facilities construction and operation;

- nature management tasks exploration activity and agriculture support with data.
