On September 11, 2015 at 5h08min Moscow time, a Soyuz-ST launch-vehicle designed and manufactured by JSC RKTs PROGRESS was launched from the Guiana Space Centre with two European Galileo satellites atop. That was the twelfth launch of the launch-vehicle produced in Samara within the framework of the Soyuz in the Guiana Space Centre Project.

The Soyuz-ST launch-vehicle is adapted to satisfy the Guiana Space Centre operational requirements regarding safety (receives launch abort telecommands from the ground station), telemetry system (has ultra-high frequency transmitters with European telemetry frame structure), and environment (high humidity, transportation by sea, etc.).

In the Soyuz in the Guiana Space Centre Project, JSC RKTs PROGRESS is responsible for the launch-vehicle and for technical and operational management of the Russian companies participating in the launch mission.
