Research-and-Production ERS Information Technologies Centre

(RP ERS ITC)

RP ERS ITC is a subdivision of FSUE SRP SRC TsSKB-Progress.

Main activities:

  • development of the most commercially actual pilot technologies of thematic satellite data processing;
  • creation of ground facilities for ERS data planning, receiving and processing;
  • development of new information technologies for improvement of space systems performance characteristics and for quality ERS data enhancement according to most consumers interests.

For effective working, RP ERS ITC cooperates with subsidiaries of FSUE SRP SRC TsSKB-Progress: NPP OPTEKS, OKB Spectr, and NII Foton of Ryazan State University of Radio Engineering. The Coordinating Committee controls the main combined activities.

RP ERS ITC’ services

  • Creation of ground facilities for ERS data planning, receiving and processing;
  • Development of software for ERS satellite images processing;
  • Development of new information technologies of general-system designing of a target contour of data reception, delivery and processing for improvement of performance characteristics of space systems;
  • Development of technologies for ERS data enhancement, improvement of image connection and other properties in the interests of wide circle of users;
  • Complex mathematical modeling of special-purpose operation of both separate satellites and a spacecraft orbital constellation in interaction with ground facilities for improvement of their performance characteristics;
  • Operational and long-term planning of space imaging of specified areas using commercial operating foreign and domestic ERS satellites;
  • Search and selection of images from Resurs-DK1archive;
  • Orthotransformation of images, creation of mosaic pictures;
  • Development of geoinformation systems;
  • Thematic interpretation
− flood water monitoring − − snow mantle monitoring
− underlying surface temperature mapping
− efficient forest fire detection
− monitoring of disafforestation
− forecasting of the level of crop yield, calculation of vegetation indexes
− detection of buried archeological objects using satellite images
  • Production of calendars, and posters; printing of satellite images of up to 1000x3000 mm by a color printer.
